Leave with more than just a finished piece: take with you a sense of connection, community, and insight into the living tradition of Aboriginal weaving.

No prior experience is necessary—everyone is welcome, and all materials will be provided.

Artist Bio

Muruwari woman, Dr. Virginia Keft, is a multi-award-winning, inter-disciplinary artist living and working on Dharawal Country. Engaged across weaving and textiles, sculpture, painting, and installation, Virginia’s practice reflects the synchronicity of themes of nature, home, and connection to culture. Using fibre, timber, and natural materials, she weaves narratives of Country and truth-telling through a First Nations lens. In March 2025, Virginia will exhibit alongside twenty-five Australian artists in an international exhibition of contemporary art in Munich, Germany. Her work is collected in private and public collections and galleries, both nationally and abroad. She holds a Doctorate (PhD - Medalist) from the University of Wollongong, along with a Bachelor of Creative Arts (BCA - Distinction), and a Bachelor of Arts (BA - Class 1 Honours). Virginia is the Producer of bangawarra Art Yarns: for older and Elder mob at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Australia.
